English 11 Exam Prep Sheet

This year’s exam will consist of two parts.

Part A:
Newspapers, 30 min, 25%
You will have a newspaper article to analyze.
You will be required to analyze the text in full using the appropriate elements; language and structure, as well as a consideration of their intention and effect upon the desired audience. The analysis will be in essay form.
Your study guide will be your notes and all handouts and postings on the appropriate texts as well as your previous written efforts and the responses received.

Part B
Graphic Novel Analysis 1.5 hrs, 75%
You will receive an excerpt from a graphic novel. You will be required to analyze the text in full including all thematic and genre elements. The analysis will be in essay form.
Your study guide will be notes and handouts from our study as well as all notes and handouts from our consideration of graphic novels and detective fiction.
